1936335-1411819-thumbnail.jpgChristy pre-ordered me Lady Antebellum's debut CD as a surprise.  I put it on my Amazon wish list a few weeks before it came out and I had no idea she had pre-ordered it.  I was so excited when I opened up the mystery box from Amazon to find that CD in there.

The next morning I had it blaring as I drove to work and it's one of the better country albums I've heard in a LONG while.  The dual vocals of Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley are a perfect combination.  On some of the tracks they sing together and on others they counter each other.  No matter the combination, they sound so good.  Kelley's got a deep soulful voice with a light twang reminiscent of some of Tim McGraw's music.  Scott's voice is very Sara Evans.  So you can imagine how well they sound together.

A mix of deep ballads and springy punchy tunes, this album is a great drive-along CD.  Their lead track "Love Don't Live Here" is on the music player here on my blog.  If you like how that sounds, you'll like the rest of the album, that's a guarantee!

My Life's Been A Country Song

The title of the latest effort from Chris Cagle.  Full of mostly heart pulling country ballads about love and losing it and heartbreak.  Y'know, the typical stuff country artists write about.  Don't get me wrong, I haven't found a bad song on this album but I kinda wish there were more country rock songs.  Or is that rockin' country songs.  Either way.

From the opening attention grabber of "What Kinda Gone", you're immersed in that all-too-familiar world of falling head over heels for someone and the wondering how and where it went wrong and how's it gonna get back to where it was?  His songs take you on the rollercoaster of love through the entire album.

Driving backbeat and flaring fiddle and hot guitar licks have this album as an instant favorite of mine.  In particular, I'm really enjoying "If It Isn't One Thing", "No Love Songs" and "Little Sundress".  This is the kinda album you wanna blast on your car stereo while you're driving around in the springtime with the windows down.  And you can be SURE I will be doing just that.  As soon as the weather warms up a little bit....

Fave lyrics of the moment:

Just play me something about drinkin', one about cheatin', a few about losin', lyin' and a-leavin'
Something where somebody did somebody wrong, and play it all night long
But dont play me no lo oh oh ove song
Dont play me no love song.

No gonna last forever, smilin', dancin', laughin'.
Hey let me hear about how it really happened.

Play me something about drinkin', one about cheatin', a few about losin', lyin' and a-leavin'
Something where somebody did somebody wrong,

Play me something about drinkin', one about cheatin', a few about losin', lyin' and a-leavin'
Something where somebody did somebody wrong, Oh she done me wrong.
